Cold Plasma Therapy

Needle-free cold atmospheric plasma treatment for skin that feels congested, oily or reactive

Plasma is an ionised gas, sometimes described as the fourth state of matter. Cold atmospheric plasma is produced at normal air pressure and close to room temperature, which allows it to be used on the skin. Our cold plasma therapy is a needle-free treatment designed to support clearer, calmer, healthier-looking skin. We offer it for skin that feels congested, oily or reactive, and for enlarged-looking pores, uneven texture and dullness. Research into cold plasma for the skin is still developing. A consultation checks it is right for you, and results vary from person to person. Available at our Chichester clinic.

What to Expect

Before

Preparation

A consultation first checks cold plasma therapy is suitable for you. Tell us about any skin condition, medication, pregnancy, pacemaker or other electronic implant, and any recent treatments, so your practitioner can decide whether to go ahead. This is a cosmetic treatment and does not replace medical care for any skin condition. Arrive with clean skin if you can.

During

Your Treatment

Your practitioner cleanses your skin, then applies cold atmospheric plasma to the areas agreed at your consultation. You can choose a 30 or 60 minute session. Tell your practitioner straight away if anything feels uncomfortable.

After

Aftercare

There is usually little or no downtime, so you can go back to your day. Keep your skincare gentle and wear SPF every day. Results vary from person to person, and your practitioner can advise whether a course would suit your skin.

Frequently Asked

FAQ
Plasma is a gas in which some of the particles carry an electrical charge, known as an ionised gas. Cold atmospheric plasma is made at normal air pressure and close to room temperature, and produces a mix of short-lived reactive particles. It has been studied in dermatology for a number of years, though researchers say larger, well-controlled trials are still needed.
No. Plasma pen treatments work with heat on the surface of the skin, and PRP uses plasma prepared from your own blood. Cold atmospheric plasma is an ionised gas produced close to room temperature, and nothing is taken from you or injected.
We offer cold plasma therapy as a cosmetic treatment for skin that feels congested, oily or reactive, not as a treatment for any skin condition. If you have a diagnosed skin or scalp condition, please keep following the advice of your GP or dermatologist, and tell us at your consultation so we can advise whether this treatment is suitable.
A single session is a good way to try the treatment. Courses of three or six 30 minute sessions are available if you and your practitioner agree a course suits your skin.
